We’re building something new for Derby. A driver led platform designed around fairness, professionalism and respect for the people who keep the city moving.

This is not a traditional operator model. It’s a partnership. A network. A better way to work together.

A fairer system for drivers and customers

Driven by Derby is built on a simple promise: fairness at every level.

For customers, that means clear, transparent pricing based on real time, distance and effort.

For drivers, that means fair fares on every job and a system that respects the work being done.

No hidden cuts. No unclear pricing structures. No unfair reductions.

Just a straightforward approach where customers pay a fair price and drivers receive a fair return.

If it isn’t fair on both sides, it doesn’t work.

Founder Membership. Limited to 25 drivers

We are now opening a strictly limited Founder Membership for drivers in Derby.

Only 25 places are available.

This is the founding group. The drivers who will shape the standard, culture and future of the platform from day one.

Once the 25 places are filled, membership steps up to driver partners.

Cost of joining

Founder Membership is just £4.20 per week the cost of a flat white at Pride Park Starbucks.

This small weekly contribution secures your place in the founding driver network and helps support the development and operation of the platform.

Service fee

A 10% service fee is applied per completed job.

This is used to cover:

• Platform development
• Administration and support
• Ongoing maintenance and improvements

It ensures the system stays reliable, efficient and focused on long-term sustainability.

We are only accepting self-employed drivers who are Derby City licensed and committed to high professional standards.

Founder Members must be:

• Reliable and professional
• Strongly customer-focused
• Consistent in service and presentation
• Fully licensed with Derby City Council
• Proud to represent Derby’s highest standard of drivers

Derby cars – Driven by Derby alows the cities residents and visitors and corporate establishments to access a 100% locally licensed project and book with local, city drivers. No offense to out of town plates intended, but this is a DCC only initiative.

We’d love to work out a way to include both private hire and Hackney drivers on the app. This opens doors to extra work, accessibilty and parties with more than 4 passengers getting east, local pickups.

Derby cars is a start up so knowing you already have regular work and can look after yourself is key. Derby Cars will initially suit drivers who may be multi apping and have the understanding they are a small business. You have to do what you have to do in order to keep yourself going.

School contract? *

Understanding if drivers are already committed between certain times enables us to manage local availabilty as the project evolves. You do you, get yourself paid. We just need to manage availabilty.

Derby cars – Driven by Derby will be run on iCabbi. It has a great passenger app function and a pretty bullet proof driver app. You need to have access to a clear iCabbi account or use a second phone if your current work process uses iCabbi. We put this here to be clear from the outset.

App access *

Access to the Derby cars app will be via a weekly subscription. Founder drivers will have a subscription fee of £3.80 (the cost of a coffee at Starbucks Pride park) then there will be a service fee of 10% on any work accessed via the app. Typically, this means, for £100.00 of work, driver will recieve £90.00. The subscription covers contribution to app growth and marketing along with filtering out those who tend to drop in and out of things reducing The % covers the costs to manage the app, transaction fees and admin.

No obligations to take on work.

The app offers jobs to the nearest driver in the zone required with a focus on drivers who may have waited longer in that zone, before offering it out to other drivers in the vicinity. We don’t manually dispatch jobs and you dont have to take on any work offered. The app will offer you the job, show you the pick up/destinations and give you an up front estimate on the fee. It’s your choice to take or decline. Get it?

Weekly settle up. *

Derby cars – Driven by Derby will pay out weekly. We’ve explored options, but in order to keep the project at that 10% service fee, the weekly payout is currently our only option. We need drivers to understand there won’t be early payouts or on demand cashouts.

Lastly. There will be a little admin before you access the app. We’ll need your documents, BACS details for payouts and we’ll need you to set up a subscription. These are the non negotiables for founder drivers. There are a limited few spots for founder drivers. Once in play, there will be a time limit to get set up or your founder driver spot could go to someone else. All good?

Founder driver status. *

Founder driver status is a bit of a thankyou for getting involved early. Thats why the subscription fee is the price of a coffee. If you leave the project or cancel the weekly payment, you will no longer have access to the project as a founder driver and your subscription will be set at the standard subs rate.
